Crater lake northern entrance was still closed. But my detour was not bad.

Fuck the police. ππΌπ
Another day, another scenic byway.
Camping on Lava Lake tonight. Lava lake formed with the other cascades lakes as the glacial sheets in the region melted and receded. However Mt Bachelor erupted and damed up the lakes with lava flows. This is why I have stopped to read every sign on my tour.
I see why this road was closed up until yesterday
Nice view for my lunch break
Getting lost on some trails on my way to Lava Lake
Back to it!
Quite the sunset. Thanks for the great times Bend. Hitting the road again tomorrow. βπΌοΈ
Hello Bend! I’m here for a full day tomorrow to take a break from touring. Anything I must visit before I head back out?
The three sisters. Used to be called Charity, Hope, and Faith, but the names didn’t stick. Now officially known as South, Middle, and North. Easier to remember but not nearly as creative.
Lookin good Mt Washington! π»
“Santiam Pass. Elevation: 4817 ft” Right after this picture a kind gentleman asked if I needed to warm up for a bit in his car. I didn’t as I had been climbing up this pass for most of the day, but we chatted about ACA routes and he let me know of a few hostels along the way.
Lake Detroit is absolutely beautiful. I was wet all day today but the views were pretty good.
Only took me way too many tries, 2 broken branches, and 1 fall on my ass to successfully hang my food the first time I was required to πͺπΌ
NF-42/Skyline road was meant for bikes. I saw 4 cars total and got nothing but great views, great tree smells, and smooth pavement. #latergram
So Day 3 ended with me 20ish miles behind my plan. But I’m staying at a legit Inn that feels like it’s from D&D.
Once I got to the top of Bennett Pass things were already rainy. And then it started snowing and the temperature massively dropped. When my toes started burning from the cold I decided I wasn’t going to make it to Clackamas Lake π
Turned super sunny when I entered Mt Hood National Park, but the freezing wind was a sign of things to come.
Today started out rainy, but this rainbow showed up as the day cleared.
Day 2 all done! Camping on Hood River this evening. Today I was shown how much yesterday’s ride rocked. This one was less scenic and less quiet, with a stretch on I-84. Tomorrow I climb into a limited service area for 2 days βπΌοΈ
Always take the gravel detour for the view. ππ»
Dreamin of Kirby Cove Coffee this morning
That’s day 1 in the books. The Historic Columbia River Highway Trail is amazing and the weather was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better start!
Glad I turned to the scenic view point. Almost missed this incredible view.
